Is It Worth It To Hire a Home Organizer?

Often clutter is caused by the processes behind dealing with incoming and existing items. There could be missing steps in the daily, weekly, monthly, or seasonal household routines, or it could be that life events changed your needs, or put you too far behind your normal decluttering schedule to easily catch up by yourself. When clutter becomes overwhelming, almost every home has one person who wants to rent a dumpster and toss it all, but that doesn’t always address the underlying issues of accumulation and disorganization.
Americans spend $2.7 billion annually replacing items already in the home. (1)
Americans spend 2.5 days a year looking for lost items, and over 60% of us have been late or missed appointments because of it. (1)
48% of us consider our homes at least somewhat cluttered, but 41% of us haven't decluttered in over a year, and 72% believe we would gain more space through decluttering. (2)
36% of people report a lack of motivation to declutter and organize, and 29% of people are too tired to declutter and organize, overwhelmed by their busy lives and juggling multiple responsibilities, leading to their homes and belongings feeling overwhelming. (3)
And these statistics are reflected in the reviews clients have left on Organization Pending's Better Business Bureau® profile.
4 Reasons to Hire a Home Organizer, According to Organization Pending's Clients

When scheduling time with Tabi, I am motivated to do as much as I can." "Organization Pending made my downsizing so much easier. I had our entire family's home to go through and was overwhelmed." "They desire to see you free of the overwhelm and return a room to you that is useful once again."
Shame: "Tabi was so encouraging - the shame melted away with their gracious spirit. They are a delightful soul with so much compassion." "They never made me feel judged or tried to convince me of what to do with the items. I appreciate this so much as there can be a lot of shame around the things collecting dust in the basement."

Tabi took care of all the details of the best location for donations by category and would also deliver them for me." When you hire a home organizer for whole home services, you give your entire house a reset, letting go of the things you've been meaning to, and organizing all of the like items in the home together, establishing zones in each room and space - so you never have to wonder where things are, or where they could be if you're not sure if you have it. If you hire Organization Pending for In-Person Training Sessions or Virtual Body Doubling, you pick up tips specific to your home and family from Owner/Operator Tabi (they/them), and you learn the steps of decluttering and home organizing one-on-one, gaining these skills to apply in the future. And many clients I work with have kids who are also struggling with disorganization. With Kid Organization Sessions, kids 10 and older can choose to work directly with me, or invite their parents into the process. For younger children, there are a few options, depending on the age(s) of your kids(s) and your goals, and we can talk about the best session type for your family at your free virtual assessment.

Home organizer tip: If you've started your search for a home organizer, you've realized there's more than one type, and you might be feeling uncertain as to which home organizing company is right for you and your family. Learn more about in-person vs virtual services, the difference between hiring a single organizer vs a team, and the aesthetic-forward vs upcycled-forward approach to home organizing in How to Choose the Right Home Organizing Service for You.
Home organizer tip: Sometimes potential clients tell me, "We should clean up before we hire a home organizer." Discover how to save money and get more for your dollar in Should You Hire a Home Organizer Before a Cleaning Company?.
